Bawku, in the Upper East Region, has reported the shooting death of an immigration official.

When unidentified gunmen opened fire on the three immigration officers’ car as it was traveling from Bawku to Missiga, Philip Motey, 42, lost his life.
Eric Ayibiya, 30, and Laurence Afri, 42, the other two officers, were shot numerous times and are receiving treatment at the Bawku Presbyterian hospital.
The event happened on April 3, 2023, a Monday. There has not yet been an arrest.
On its journey to the Missiga station in Bawku, the immigration vehicle came under fire from armed individuals whose identities are unknown.
In a related incident, Imoro Bello, a driver of a yellow-yellow tricycle, was also killed on Monday by unidentified gunmen.
Some locals attributed the murders to the protracted Bawku ethnic conflict.
