The government has launched a resettlement program to aid communities affected by the recent Akosombo Dam spillage.
Led by the Ministry of Works and Housing, this initiative aims to offer new housing solutions to individuals whose homes were devastated by the floods.
According to figures from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), over 5,200 households across 19 districts along the Volta River in the Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra, and Oti Regions were impacted by the flooding.

Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, emphasized that the entire resettlement project is expected to span six months.
“The construction of these resettlement homes will require several months, approximately six, to make significant progress. We urge everyone’s patience as we undertake this endeavor. We are initiating construction for about a hundred homes initially, and the final validation process will provide us with the exact numbers needed.”
