Ahiagbah, who earlier condemned the attack and distanced the NPP from the incident, also expressed the party’s readiness to assist the police in their investigation.

In a statement, Ahiagbah said, “Anytime they need anything, we will be ready to supply them if we have. They have not reached out to us yet, and we are waiting to hear from them.” He further revealed that the arrested individuals have been released on bail while investigations continue.

The attack on UTV occurred during the broadcast of the station’s United Showbiz program on Saturday, October 7. The show was disrupted shortly after it began at around 9 PM. The incident followed a complaint from the Despite Media Group and the Ministry of Information, prompting police intervention and the subsequent arrests.

The NPP, in its initial response, strongly condemned the attack and disassociated itself from the individuals involved.

The party’s stance reflects a broader call for political parties to promote peaceful engagement and respect for the media and its role in a democratic society.

As investigations into the incident continue, there is a growing emphasis on the need for all parties to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

This development underscores the importance of safeguarding press freedom and ensuring the safety of journalists in Ghana.
