#FixTheCountry Convenor Reveals Attempted Bribery by National Security Minister to Halt Protest

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the convenors of the #FixTheCountry movement, has made shocking revelations about an attempt by the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, to halt the "Occupy Julorbi House" demonstration through bribery.

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the convenors of the #FixTheCountry movement, has made shocking revelations about an attempt by the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, to halt the “Occupy Julorbi House” demonstration through bribery.

Barker-Vormawor disclosed that while he was abroad, the National Security Minister invited him to return to Ghana for a meeting, even offering to pay for his flight tickets.

In an interview with TV3 on the second day of the protests, Barker-Vormawor characterized the purpose of the meeting as an attempt to “bribe” him and other convenors into stopping the protests. He stated that there are recordings of this outreach that were undisclosed to the public.

According to Barker-Vormawor, the meeting took place at a safe house, and the government offered not only money but also appointments in exchange for ending the protests. However, the convenors rejected these offers, reaffirming their commitment to mobilizing citizens and continuing with their cause.

He also alleged that the National Security Minister warned that if the protest continued, they would be arrested and dealt with. Kan-Dapaah reportedly stated that it would be “over his dead body” for any demonstration to take place.

These revelations have raised further questions about the government’s response to the #FixTheCountry movement and its attempts to quell dissenting voices. The movement has been advocating for accountability, transparency, and improved governance in Ghana.
