NPP’s Intention to Summon Kennedy Agyapong: A Closer Look at the Drama Unfolding

In a surprising twist of events, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set its sights on summoning none other than Kennedy Agyapong, a prominent flagbearer aspirant, before its disciplinary committee.

This comes in response to the threats and accusations he leveled against President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the recent Special Delegates Conference – an incident that has certainly raised eyebrows.

In a video that has swiftly made its way around, Agyapong, who also serves as the Assin Central Member of Parliament, can be seen delivering strong-worded threats directed at the two leaders.

The source of his anger? Alleged attacks on his agents.

His words echoed, “President Akufo-Addo, I will give you a showdown in this country, I swear to God. Vice President, I will give you a showdown for chasing my agent away. I swear to God. You will hear what will happen here. I swear to God, I will challenge President Akufo-Addo big time.”

As details emerged, it turns out that these fiery remarks were made during a radio interview. The NPP, however, is not taking this lightly.

In a statement penned by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party announced its intent to summon Agyapong before the Disciplinary Committee to elucidate his threats and remarks.

But that’s not all – the story doesn’t stop with Agyapong. Four other individuals are set to face the party’s disciplinary committee for alleged misconduct.

Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, Musa Sulemana, and Hopeson Yaovi Adorye find themselves under scrutiny due to evidence, including photographic and video materials, suggesting potential violations of the party’s constitution.

These potential violations are particularly in reference to Article 3(5)(A) and possible misconduct according to Article 4(7).

Amidst all of this, it’s worth noting that Agyapong, as per the party’s constitutional provisions, will be summoned before the Disciplinary Committee.

This is to ensure that he is given the opportunity to provide responses and elaborate further on the accusations and threats he made against certain personalities – accusations that have rapidly gained traction on both social media and mainstream news outlets.
