A viral video showing Dalai Lama, encouraging a kid to ‘suck’ his tongue caused anger, he issued an apology.
The Dalai according to a statement released on Monday, April 10, expressed his regret over the incident.
The statement reads;
“His holiness frequently teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras”.
The spiritual leader apology follows a social media backlash against the Dalai Lama’s behaviour after a video of the incident, which happened during an event in the mountain city of Dharamshala in February went viral.
The small boy was seen in the video approaching the Nobel Prize Winner, requesting for a hug. The Dalai Lama now invited him on stage, ask him for kiss on cheek and then instructed him to ‘suck’ his tongue.
