Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a presenter with Wontumi FM/Television, has disclosed that he met with the police in the Ashanti Region following his claims about the death of former Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu, who is also believed to be an aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, made claims that John Kumah was poisoned alongside Chairman Wontumi in October 2023.
According to him, the alleged poisoning occurred in the Northern Region during Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign to lead the NPP. He claimed that the poisoning was related to Dr. Bawumia’s selection of a running mate for the 2024 election.
Although the speculations about the alleged poisoning were first reported to have emanated from Media General’s Captain Smart, who has since been reported to the police by the late MP’s widow, some have also called on the police to interrogate Oheneba Nana Asiedu.
Speaking on Wontumi FM on Wednesday, March 14, Oheneba Nana Asiedu confirmed that he personally went to the police in the Ashanti Region. He met with the Regional Police Commander, the Deputy Commander, the Regional CID boss, and the Regional Operations Director along with his lawyers.
He stated that the police preferred him to meet with the national boss, so he planned to meet them the following week. Oheneba Nana Asiedu also mentioned that he had spoken to one of the CID bosses at the National headquarters through the Regional Commander and assured them that he would provide any information he knew.
Meanwhile, Oheneba Nana Asiedu stated that after meeting with the police, he had ten questions for John Kumah’s wife to answer. Madam Lilian Kumah has already denied claims that her husband died of poisoning, insisting that he had been battling a terminal ailment.
Following Mr. John Kumah’s death, Oheneba Asiedu appeared on Wontumi TV’s sports show, where he suggested that the poisoning occurred after they consumed guinea fowl served to them after campaign activities in Tamale on October 22, 2023.
According to him, while Chairman Wontumi vomited severely and had to be taken care of by Dr. Bawumia’s medical team before being taken to the hospital, John Kumah started experiencing the effects the following day.

He claimed that John Kumah traveled abroad for treatment but had never been the same again until his demise. Oheneba Nana Asiedu insisted that John Kumah did not die a natural death and believed that it was related to the position of the running mate for Dr. Bawumia.
