John Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged the government to acknowledge the existence of power outages, commonly known as ‘dumsor’, and release a well-defined load-shedding timetable.
Recent power outages across the country have prompted Mahama’s call for transparency.
Addressing a gathering in Sissala West as part of his “Building the Ghana We Want” Tour in the Upper West region, Mahama emphasized that Ghanaians are well aware of the ongoing load shedding and simply need a clear schedule.
Drawing from his experience as a former president, Mahama highlighted that he kept the public informed during his tenure about challenges and the steps taken to address them.
He expressed concern that the current administration has not been as forthcoming in addressing the issue. Mahama pointed out that while the government may not explicitly acknowledge ‘dumsor’, the reality of power outages persists.
He noted that the lack of a defined timetable for load shedding leaves citizens uncertain and inconvenienced.
Mahama emphasized the importance of honesty in leadership and criticized the lack of transparency surrounding the power situation.

He highlighted various factors contributing to the power challenges, including issues with generation assets, payment for gas and fuel, and the need for load shedding to prevent system failure.
In conclusion, Mahama urged the government to provide a clear load-shedding timetable to inform citizens about power outages, addressing the situation transparently and effectively.
