The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has provided an update on the status of the investigation into the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

He stated that as of now, no docket suitable for prosecution has been submitted to his office regarding the case.

Ahmed Suale was tragically killed on January 16, 2019, by two unidentified individuals on a motorbike. Despite initial detentions of four suspects to aid the inquiry, they were later released on police enquiry bail due to a lack of identification by eyewitnesses.

During a parliamentary session, the Minister emphasized that the murder of Ahmed Suale is among several pending cases.

He highlighted that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is handling the matter.

Despite efforts to resolve the case, including inquiries and demands for reports, no document fit for prosecution has been presented to the Attorney-General’s office regarding Suale’s murder.

The Minister expressed concern over the failure to resolve the case and reiterated the need for thorough investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
