On March 27, 2023, the police arrested three suspects in Japa, near Wassa Akropong, in the Western Region, during an intelligence exercise.
The three suspects, Godfred Appiah alias Nana Kobina Gyan, Isaac Amoako alias Nana Owusu, and Theophilus Yeboah alias Fire, were apprehended after an investigation into a social media video in which one individual was seen shooting at another and threatening violence.
The police operation originally resulted in the arrest of the main suspect, Godfred Appiah, who was seen firing the weapon in the video.
Further police inquiry resulted in the arrest of suspects Theophilus Yeboah and Isaac Amoako, who were identified as the owner and supplier of the aforementioned gun.
A check of suspect Isaac Amoako’s home resulted in the recovery of four (4) pump action shotguns and twenty-four (24) AAA-refilled cartridges. However, he was unable to present documents covering three of the weapons.
The suspects appeared in Tarkwa Circuit Court today, Wednesday 29th March 2023, and were remanded in prison until April 6th, 2023.
“Efforts are currently being made to apprehend other accomplices in connection with the case,” the Police said in a statement released on Wednesday, March 29.
