It forms part of intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking activities in Ghana’s territorial waters.
Initial assessments by NACOC indicate that each sack contains approximately 70 parcels of the suspected narcotic, pointing to a significant haul likely intended for distribution.
In addition to the suspected drugs, the team retrieved several items believed to have been used in the smuggling operation, including a canoe fitted with an outboard motor, two gallons of premix fuel, and five empty containers.
All confiscated items, including the canoe, have been handed over to NACOC to support ongoing investigations. Authorities say efforts are underway to track down and apprehend individuals connected to the attempted smuggling.
NACOC further indicated that surveillance and enforcement measures in the area have been intensified as part of a broader strategy to clamp down on illegal drug trade along Ghana’s coast.
