An Adenta Circuit Court has postponed proceedings in the case involving Evans Eshun, also known as Ebo Noah, to June 10 as prosecutors prepare to file their disclosures.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The adjournment came after the prosecution informed the court that it was still compiling the necessary documents for the case.
Eshun, a 33-year-old security guard, appeared in court in a calm mood, accompanied by his mother and other relatives. He is currently on bail set at GH¢100,000, with two sureties—one of whom must provide justification with landed property or a vehicle. As part of his bail conditions, he is also required to report to the police weekly.
He has been charged with the publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic but has pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, the complainant in the case is the Ghana Police Service.
The court was told that between August and December 2025, Eshun allegedly shared multiple videos on social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. In those videos, he claimed that the world would be destroyed by a flood on December 25, 2025, and said he was building an ark to save people.
Prosecutors further revealed that on December 31, 2025, Eshun was arrested during an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra Region.
In his statement to investigators, he admitted to creating and circulating the videos. However, he clarified that the boat he referred to as an ark was not his, but belonged to fishermen at a boatyard in Edina in the Central Region.
The prosecution added that Eshun acknowledged the claims were false and admitted there was no impending global flood. He reportedly told investigators that the videos were created purely to attract attention and increase his following on social media.
