Dr Apaak noted that the policy forms part of broader measures announced by President John Dramani Mahama during the State of the Nation Address. He explained that the programme is designed to make rural teaching positions more appealing while improving the quality of education at the basic level.
According to him, the intervention seeks to bridge the gap between urban and rural schools by ensuring that children in underserved areas receive equal opportunities to excel academically. “The President has introduced a programme to reward teachers who accept rural postings. These teachers will receive an additional 20% on top of their gross salary as motivation.”
