Several Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have begun raising fuel prices ahead of the official April pricing window, following new directives from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

Leading the adjustment, GOIL announced an increase in pump prices, with petrol rising from GH¢12.24 to GH¢13.30 per litre and diesel moving from GH¢15.69 to GH¢17.10 per litre. The company indicated that the changes are in response to the revised price floor issued by the NPA on March 30, 2026, despite the official implementation period being April 1 to April 15.

Another major player, Star Oil, has also revised its prices. Petrol has gone up from GH¢12.19 to GH¢13.49 per litre, while diesel has seen a sharp increase from GH¢14.25 to GH¢17.97 per litre. These new prices took effect from 8:00 a.m. on March 31, 2026.

The NPA’s newly introduced price floors set minimum selling prices for fuel products in the upcoming pricing window. Under the directive, petrol must not be sold below GH¢13.30 per litre, while diesel has a minimum price of GH¢17.10 per litre. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has also seen a marginal increase, rising from GH¢10.67 to GH¢10.71 per kilogram.

According to the regulator, these base prices do not include additional costs such as premiums from International Oil Trading Companies, as well as margins set by Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies and individual OMCs.

With the enforcement of these minimum price thresholds, all OMCs and LPG Marketing Companies are required to comply immediately. Firms previously selling below the new benchmarks are expected to adjust their prices without delay.

The early moves by major industry players suggest that fuel prices across the country will align with the new structure before the official start date, signaling higher costs for consumers at the pumps in the coming days.
