She made the appeal during Ramadan prayers organised by the Ahlusunna Wal-Jama’a sect at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, where hundreds of Muslim faithful gathered to mark the end of the holy fasting period.

According to the Vice-President, Ghana’s progress depends largely on the ability of its people to live in harmony, respect one another’s beliefs, and work collectively toward shared goals.

The event was attended by key government officials, including Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo and Mohammed Amin Adam. Prayers were led by Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, the First Deputy National Imam of the Ahlusunna Wal-Jama’a.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the importance of interfaith cooperation, noting that the coincidence of Ramadan and Lent this year presents a unique opportunity for deeper collaboration between religious communities.

She encouraged citizens to uphold values such as honesty, compassion, and responsibility, stressing that these principles are essential for building a strong and stable society.

The Vice-President also urged Ghanaians to continue praying for peace and to contribute actively to the country’s development, regardless of their religious affiliations.

She concluded by commending Muslims for their devotion during Ramadan and wished them peace, happiness, and divine guidance in the days ahead.
