The 24-hour economy is a major policy of the administration of John Dramani Mahama, aimed at encouraging businesses to operate day and night in order to increase productivity, stimulate economic growth and expand job opportunities across various sectors.

Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV on Monday, March 9, Mr Adjei indicated that the industrial infrastructure created through the 1D1F programme provides a ready foundation for businesses expected to operate under the new economic model.

He explained that the factories set up during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo now represent a significant industrial base that the current government can build on to drive continuous production and economic activity.

According to Mr Adjei, about 321 factories were initiated under the 1D1F programme, with approximately 170 currently operational. He noted that the initiative has already generated employment for more than 24,000 people directly, while the broader supply and production chain linked to the factories supports roughly 124,000 additional jobs.

He added that these facilities could serve as a critical platform for expanding round-the-clock production, helping the government achieve its goals of boosting output and creating more employment opportunities through the 24-hour economy strategy.
