Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) have begun an indefinite nationwide strike today, Monday, March 9, in protest over what the union describes as continuous delays in implementing their agreed conditions of service.

According to the leadership of CLOGSAG, the strike follows repeated but unsuccessful attempts to get the government to address their concerns regarding the implementation of their service conditions.
The decision to proceed with the strike comes despite a directive from the National Labour Commission urging the association to suspend the action and return to the negotiating table.
However, the union has rejected the order and instructed its members nationwide to stay away from work, arguing that authorities have failed to engage them meaningfully since the strike notice was issued.
Public Relations Officer of CLOGSAG, Edmund Aquaye, said the association had not received any official response from the government after announcing the planned strike last week.
He explained that the National Executive Council of the association had waited for a response from their employer but none had been forthcoming.
Mr Aquaye therefore called on all members of the association across the country to comply fully with the strike directive and refrain from reporting to work starting March 9 until further notice.
