Ghana Embassy in UAE Reassures Black Queens Amid Regional Tensions at Pink Ladies Cup

Officials from Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates have visited the Black Queens’ training base to offer support and reassurance as the team competes in the Pink Ladies Cup.

The delegation made up of Consular Officer Percy Okudzeto, Consul and Head of Chancery Abdul-Jalil Sigli Yakubu Abdulai, and Head of Transport Anas Shaibu met with the players and technical staff during a scheduled engagement aimed at boosting morale and reinforcing confidence within the camp.

The visit comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions in parts of the UAE following reported military exchanges involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Diplomatic authorities have since stepped up engagement with Ghanaian nationals in the country, including members of the national women’s team, to ensure their safety.

Although the tournament is proceeding as scheduled, embassy officials assured the squad that their welfare remains a top priority. Speaking during the visit, Mr Okudzeto stressed that the government is closely monitoring developments and has implemented measures to protect the team throughout their stay.

He encouraged the players to remain calm and concentrate on their matches, assuring them of continuous support from both the government and the embassy. Mr Abdulai also reaffirmed the mission’s readiness to provide any assistance the team may require, maintaining that communication lines between the embassy and the camp remain open. The engagement allowed the officials to assess conditions at the team’s base, while the players and technical staff shared updates on their preparations for upcoming fixtures.

Team leadership expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as timely and uplifting. They noted that the presence of Ghana’s representatives had strengthened morale and reinforced the players’ sense of national support at a critical stage of the competition.
