The decision follows months of discussions aimed at resolving a dispute over the gratuity calculation formula, which had remained unsettled for five years.
According to the statement issued by the Department of Public Relations, the current Military High Command, upon taking office, initiated talks with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defence to address concerns surrounding the implementation of CI 129. These engagements have now produced a structured two-year phased payment plan.
Under the arrangement, personnel who retired from November 2020 onward will receive arrears calculated under the revised gratuity formula. The payments will be made in four installments spanning February 2026 to December 2027. The first installment is scheduled to be disbursed by the close of business on Friday, February 27, 2026.
A total of 238 officers and 2,155 soldiers are expected to benefit from the initial phase. The Armed Forces also indicated that going forward, all new retirements will be processed strictly in accordance with CI 129 to prevent similar delays.
Military authorities described the development as a significant milestone, bringing finality to an issue that has persisted since 2020. The High Command further conveyed its gratitude to the government for its cooperation and commitment in resolving the matter, ensuring that both current and future retirees receive their full entitlements at the approved rates.
