The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially closed its Premium Passport Application Centres in Accra and Kumasi, instructing applicants to use regional passport offices for all processing services.

In a public notice issued on February 23, 2026, the Ministry announced that the decision took effect on February 20, 2026. The statement informed the public that individuals who had submitted applications or were yet to complete processes at the premium centres should report to their respective Regional Passport Application Centres to continue their applications. “ACCRA, 23RD FEBRUARY, 2026 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public of the closure of the Premium Passport Application Centres in Accra and Kumasi effective 20th February, 2026,” the notice stated.

Applicants with pending requests have also been advised to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit on 0302-754-200 for further clarification or assistance.

Although the Ministry did not provide specific reasons for the closure, it assured citizens of its commitment to maintaining efficient and quality passport services through existing regional structures.

The shutdown is expected to impact applicants in Accra and Kumasi who previously relied on the premium centres for faster processing. However, the Ministry emphasized that service delivery standards will continue to be upheld across all regional passport offices.
