The National Service Authority (NSA) has assured National Service Personnel that their outstanding allowances will be settled by the end of the week, following mounting frustration over delayed payments.
In a statement dated February 17, 2026, and signed by Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh, the Authority explained that although funds have already been made available, a verification exercise is temporarily holding up disbursement.
According to the NSA, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department released enough funds last week to cover two months of unpaid allowances. However, before payments can be processed, details of beneficiaries must undergo validation by the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS).
The Authority said the verification step is essential to safeguard the integrity of the payment system and ensure that only eligible personnel receive the funds. It stressed that the delay is not due to a lack of money but rather the need to complete the technical checks required for accurate disbursement.
Management acknowledged the hardship the delay has caused, noting that many service personnel rely heavily on their monthly allowances to meet basic living expenses during their mandatory national service year.
The NSA gave a firm assurance that all validated arrears will be paid by close of business this week. It also pledged to keep personnel informed through its official communication platforms as the process nears completion.
