Chelsea’s Tyrique George Reveals Ghanaian Roots, Eligible for Nationality Switch

Chelsea forward Tyrique George has disclosed that his mother is Ghanaian, a revelation that could make him eligible for a future switch of international allegiance.

The striker, who joined Everton on loan on transfer deadline day, shared the information during his first interview with the club, stating that he was born to a Ghanaian mother and a Nigerian father.

George made 11 appearances for Chelsea in the first half of the season, finding the net against Lincoln City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Ajax.

At international level, he has represented England across several youth categories, including U16, U17, U18, U19, and U21. He has earned four caps for the England Under-21 side, scoring twice, and featured in the European Under-21 Championship qualifiers in late 2025.

Having not yet made a senior appearance for England, George remains eligible to switch international allegiance and could represent either Ghana or Nigeria in the future.
