Ghana is in agreement with China for a Zero Tariff for Ghana’s export to the Asian giant market. The President of the Republic of Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama, has just completed a trade Agreement with Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China for a trade agreement to be finalised by the end of October 2025.
This is said to be a breakthrough for the Ghanaian economy to increase trade and export to one of the world’s biggest economies, with a zero-tariff program initially initiated by China in December 2025

China’s trade and exports to Ghana increased by approximately 46% between 2020 and 2024. Ghana is currently at 11%, which is believed to increase significantly with the introduction of the zero-tariff policy.
After 65 years of friendship between the two countries, this is believed to be one of the most laudable moves for both economies.
This was announced in Beijing at the just-ended Presidential Investment Forum on October 13, 2025. The President of Ghana has commended the Chinese Government for this trade agreement.
