The freshly imported train from Poland was involved in an accident during a test run, but all passengers and crew members are unharmed, according to Minister of Railways Development John Peter Amewu.
On Thursday, April 18, 2024, at around 12:10 p.m., a train that Ghana recently acquired and was supposed to run on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line was involved in an accident in the Asuogyaman District.

In a statement released on Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Ministry of Railways Development stated that when the train reached the curve at Km76+100, it came into contact with a stationary vehicle that was positioned squarely across the rail track. According to the report the vehicle might have been internally placed there by an assailant whose intention was to cause harm.
Technically speaking, the train is still in excellent condition; only minor damage to the front has affected the electrical or engine systems. To get the train back on the line, we’re hoping the insurance company will act as soon as feasible.

The driver of the said vehicle has however been arrested and he will be prosecuted. After the police investigations were over, he promised Ghanaians that the ministry would keep them informed.
