Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), addressed a large crowd in Kwahu Mpraeso after a special Easter health walk, emphasizing his track record and vision for Ghana’s future.
Highlighting his tenure as Vice President, Dr. Bawumia pointed to several generational issues he helped resolve and promised to do more if elected President. He contrasted his approach with that of his opponent, framing his candidacy as a vote for bold solutions versus old ones.
Addressing concerns about his lack of presidential experience, Dr. Bawumia underscored his accomplishments as Vice President and expressed confidence in his ability to lead Ghana forward. He outlined his vision for the country, including a new tax system with a flat tax rate, tax amnesty for businesses and individuals, and the training of 1 million young Ghanaians in coding and software applications.
Dr. Bawumia also outlined plans to revise the National Service Scheme, making it optional for those who secure employment immediately after school. He reiterated his proposal for a Ghanacard to passport policy, streamlining the passport application process using biometric data already captured in the Ghanacard database.
Regarding the NPP’s performance compared to the NDC, Dr. Bawumia cited superior records in education, economic indicators, hospital construction, tourism, sports infrastructure, and digitalization. He called on party members to unite and work hard to secure victory in the 2024 presidential election and parliamentary majority.

The health walk saw participation from thousands of youth, along with NPP leaders such as National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, as well as Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and recent NPP presidential primary aspirants.
