The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has issued an Executive Instrument to renew the curfew hours imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships and their environs in the Volta Region and Oti Region respectively.
Effective from Sunday, March 1, 2024, the new curfew hours will be from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, according to a statement from the Ministry.
The government expressed appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of the area for their efforts in maintaining peace. They were encouraged to continue using established mechanisms for resolving conflicts and disputes.

Additionally, the government reiterated a ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in the two towns and their surroundings. Violators of this ban will face arrest and prosecution.
Recent clashes in the areas have resulted in fatalities among residents.
