Ghanaian Lady, Felicity Asantewaa, is gearing up to challenge the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest individual car washing marathon on March 9, 2024.
With a goal of washing the most cars by an individual within an impressive 8-hour timeframe, Felicity aims to set a new benchmark for this feat. The event is set to take place near the Executive Club in East Legon.
Announcing her ambitious endeavor on her Instagram page, Felicity expressed her commitment to empowering young women in Ghana, promoting gender equality, and showcasing the myriad of opportunities available to them.
“It’s not about competing with men but demonstrating that women are equally capable of seizing opportunities for livelihood. Women are now driving commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks, engaging in various activities, and asserting their independence,” she remarked.
Felicity noted the male-dominated nature of the car washing profession in Ghana but believes that women are equally adept at the task. Her passion for cars and desire to empower young women inspired her to undertake this challenge.
“I love cars, and I’m knowledgeable about different car brands. So, I chose to leverage my passion to empower young women and promote Ghana,” she explained.
The event is scheduled to kick off at 7 am at the East Legon Go Go wash premises near the East Legon fitness club.

If successful, Felicity will join the ranks of Ghanaians who have attempted Guinness World Records for various endeavors. Her initiative follows in the footsteps of others like Afua Asantewaa, who embarked on a five-day sing-a-thon attempt, and Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak, who undertook a 227-hour cook-a-thon at the Tamale stadium.
