NDC directs party flags to fly at half-mast in honour of ET Mensah, Dr Sidney Laryea

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a directive that all flags at the party’s national headquarters, regional offices, and 275 constituency offices should fly at half-mast on Thursday, October 5. This decision is in honor of the party’s first National Youth Organiser, Enoch Teye Mensah, and first National Treasurer, Dr. Sidney Laryea, who both recently passed away.

Enoch Teye Mensah passed away on Sunday, October 1, while receiving treatment in a South African hospital, and Dr. Sidney Laryea passed away a day later.

In a statement issued after a FEC meeting on Wednesday, October 4, the NDC expressed pride in the invaluable contributions made by these individuals to the development of Ghana and the NDC party.

“The Functional Executive Committee has resolved and hereby directs that all flags of the NDC at the National Headquarters, Regional Offices, and across the 275 Constituency Offices of the party fly at half-mast on Thursday, 5th October, 2023, in honor of the memory of our deceased comrades,” the statement read.

The party also assured that it would join the families of the two deceased members to honor their memories and ensure they receive a fitting burial.

The decision to fly flags at half-mast is a traditional gesture of respect and mourning to honor individuals who have passed away and is often observed by organizations, governments, and institutions to show their reverence and pay tribute to the deceased.
