The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has issued a statement addressing recent reports regarding the purchase of iPhone 13 Pro Max phones for its corporate executives. While BOST acknowledged the acquisition of the phones in May 2022, the company refuted the circulating figure of GH¢28 million and clarified the actual cost.
In its statement, BOST clarified that the total cost of the iPhones was GH¢234,000.00, which, when grossed up for taxes, amounted to GH¢285,412.16. The company emphasized that this cost had been captured in its financial reports and had undergone scrutiny by the Auditor General, who made no adverse findings regarding the purchase.
According to BOST, the reason for acquiring these devices was to enable its team to stay connected with the management information and business intelligence systems of the company. This was deemed essential for efficient decision-making, particularly in the petroleum storage and transportation sector, where split-second decisions can be critical.
BOST further explained that the efficient access to processed information had contributed positively to the company’s operations and results.
The erroneous GH¢28 million figure reported in the media was attributed to a typographical error that misplaced the decimal point in the document, converting GH¢285,412.16 to GH¢28,541,261.00.
The statement from BOST aims to set the record straight and provide accurate information regarding the purchase of iPhones for its corporate executives.
