New details have surfaced regarding the viral video featuring Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), where he was seen expressing his strong opinions towards President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
It has been revealed that these remarks were made during a radio interview and not through a direct conversation.
In the widely circulated video, Agyapong can be heard passionately discussing his intentions to address President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia over alleged attacks on his agents during the NPP’s super delegates conference.
His words were strong and resolute as he vowed to take action.
In the video, he stated, “President Akufo-Addo, I will give you a showdown in this country, I swear to God. Vice President, I will give you a showdown for chasing my agent away. I swear to God. You will hear what will happen here. I swear to God, I will challenge President Akufo-Addo big time.”
Contrary to some initial interpretations, a separate video has emerged that clearly shows Kennedy Agyapong speaking on Oman FM, a radio station, rather than directly addressing the President or the Vice President.
The NPP recently held a super delegates conference on August 26, 2023, with the aim of narrowing down the field of presidential hopefuls from ten to five.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Bawumia emerged as the front-runner, followed by Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyerematen, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto. Both Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko received 9 votes each.
With this outcome, the party has set a run-off election for both Addai-Nimoh and Agyarko, scheduled for September 2, 2023.
This decisive round will determine their fate ahead of the main election on November 4. The developments within the NPP continue to capture the attention of the nation as the political landscape evolves.
