Minister of Roads and Highways Alleges Corruption within Ministry

Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways in Ghana, has made a strong statement alleging that his Ministry is plagued by corrupt officials engaged in unethical practices, including theft.

He expressed frustration over the impact of corruption on the quality of roads constructed in the country.

Speaking to journalists during an inspection of the ongoing VALCO Roundabout-Kpone Road reconstruction project, Amoako-Attah expressed anger and disappointment with the state of affairs within his Ministry.

He lamented that despite efforts to dismiss and replace allegedly corrupt officials, the new appointees often turned out to be even worse, leading to further deterioration in the quality of work.

Amoako-Attah called for accountability and legal action against those involved in corrupt practices within his Ministry.

He emphasized the need to prosecute these officials as a deterrent to others, in order to discourage the continuation of such practices.

The Minister’s statement sheds light on the challenges of addressing corruption within government institutions and the construction sector, which can have a significant impact on the country’s infrastructure and development.

His candid remarks also highlight the urgent need for effective anti-corruption measures and increased transparency in public projects.
