Fred Nuamah, the Ghanaian actor, entrepreneur, and aspiring politician, has revealed his intention to continue pursuing his political ambitions, despite withdrawing from the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary primaries.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Nuamah explained his decision to step back from the race, which placed his close friend, acclaimed actor John Dumelo, as a frontrunner.
While Nuamah’s withdrawal from the Ayawaso West-Wuogon NDC parliamentary primaries might indicate a temporary break from the forefront of political activities, he emphasized that it does not signify a complete abandonment of his political aspirations.
He affirmed his commitment to his party and expressed his readiness to contribute in various capacities within the political landscape.
Nuamah stated, “I will serve my party and Ghanaians in several ways and at different levels. The future will take care of itself.”
Nuamah’s decision to withdraw from the NDC’s Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary race came as a surprise, considering his initial pursuit of the seat earlier in the year.
His close friendship with John Dumelo, who contested for the same seat in the previous general elections, added a layer of complexity to the situation.
Despite the initial appearance of strained camaraderie due to their political aspirations, Nuamah clarified that he had the blessing of Dumelo to contest the
Ayawaso West-Wuogon seat on the NDC ticket, as Dumelo had set his sights on a different constituency.
Nuamah emphasized that his decision to compete against Dumelo in the primaries did not harm their friendship. In fact, he noted that the experience had
strengthened the bond they share. Nuamah has reached out to Dumelo, extending his endorsement and support for Dumelo’s candidacy.
Nuamah’s support is not merely symbolic; he is committed to rallying his supporters within the party to back Dumelo’s campaign, fostering a united front for the
NDC’s success in the constituency. This display of unity highlights the dedication both individuals have to the party’s goals, showcasing a collaborative effort for the betterment of their political endeavors within the NDC.
