Due to a lack of space, the Headmaster of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) has converted toilet cubicles into dormitories for students in Tamale, Northern Region.
This follows a popular video showing students sleeping in purported restroom facilities.
Doughlas Haruna Yakubu, the Headmaster of GHANASCO, branded the film as malicious and a deliberate fabrication of facts.
He claimed that the viral videos were created and dramatized by the journalist in order to harm the school’s image.

He also stated that the school has enough capacity to accommodate more students and that there is no need to transform washrooms facilities into student dormitories.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has expressed concern over the school’s shortage of dorms.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the GES Public Relations Unit, called the situation as unsettling and terrible in a statement.
It stated that the Headmaster and Senior Housemaster have been directed to step aside to allow the Regional Director of Education to conduct additional inquiry into the problem and report back in two weeks.
According to the statement, management has informed all of our stakeholders and the general public that it would continue to ensure that the pupils entrusted to our care are in a safe school environment.
