According to Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) brand has been tarnished by its MPs’ decision to vote for all six cabinet candidates of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He estimated that repairing the damage would take decades.
“The damage done to our party’s brand and public interest in our caucus by these judases and Esaus may take decades to repair,” he said in a tweet.
“May the treacherous elements be revealed as we work to rebuild the NDC, and may the good Lord forgive their transgressions.”
“If we can’t be trusted in opposition when crumbs are on the line, how can we expect Ghanaians to elect us into positions of authority in which we will be entrusted with all of Ghana’s resources?” He went on.
The party has also chastised some of its members for abandoning principle and voting for cabinet choices based only on personal considerations.
The actions of these renegade MPs, according to the party, only undermine the NDC’s stated objective and “constitute a massive stab in the back of the good people of Ghana.”
The party suggested that members who remained faithful to the party’s values, particularly Caucus leadership, should be recognized.
“We will go to any length to identify them and publicly congratulate them in due course,” according to a statement.

“Their patriotism and loyalty will be remembered.”
Regardless of the “betrayal,” the party stated that it will continue to unite with the millions of its supporters and Ghanaians who are tired of Akufo-Addo-Bawumia’s bloated government.
“Our country is unquestionably experiencing the worst economic meltdown in living memory,” it said.
“It is therefore unforgivable for anyone, let alone a Member of Parliament who believes in the NDC’s ideals, to continue to support the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government’s recklessness.”
